A podcast that goes deep on tech, ethics, and society.

I have to roll my eyes at the headlines on technology and ethics.  “AI will kill us all,” “AI will take our jobs,” “Social media undermines our autonomy and our elections.”

But this is largely click bait nonsense. It’s not that it’s necessarily wrong. It’s that the analysis is painfully superficial. But if we’re going make well informed decisions and demands about how our society and our lives should be designed, we can’t tolerate the superficial.

That’s where I come in. I’m Reid Blackman, a former philosophy professor turned AI ethics advisor to government and business. Translating the complexities of ethics into something digestible and actionable is what I love to do. It’s one reason I wrote a book called, by pure coincidence, “Ethical Machines,” and it’s why I’ve started this weekly podcast.

Sometimes I’ll speak with brilliant minds that have been working on these issues inside the walls of academia. Sometimes I’ll talk with experienced practitioners. And sometimes I’ll share my own ideas about the most pressing issues in tech and ethics.
